---------- The North Lakeland School District hosted its second Strategic Task Force planning meeting on Wednesday evening, October 18, 2023. Following a light supper provided by the North Lakeland Food Service Department, the Task Force members engaged in a discussion around the following question: If North Lakeland could invest in five key items, what would they be? Based on the responses from this question, and the questions discussed during the first planning session in September, emerging themes were identified. Mr. Brent Jelinski, Superintendent, provided an overview to the Task Force Community members on questions frequently asked of him about the school. This included information on student achievement, state test scores, the financial trends of the school over the past 10-15 years, along with his current concerns regarding the school’s future progress. Following Mr. Jelinski’s comments, the participants were asked to prioritize the predominant themes that emerged from the September and October planning sessions. The six top ranked themes were: 1) Staffing/professional development/retention, 2) Facilities, 3) Funding, 4) Outdoor Education, 5) Curriculum/Academic Achievement, 6) Health, Wellness/Safety. The School District planning team is now tasked with developing a Strategic Plan reflecting the priorities established by the Community Task Force. A rough draft of the District’s newly developed strategic plan will be presented at the third Strategic Planning Task Force meeting on Monday, December 4, 2023.
If you have any questions regarding North Lakeland’s Strategic Planning process, please don’t hesitate to contact Mr. Jelinski.
